Operating at 512 Hz with passive detection of 50Hz or 60Hz, the XT-512 can help locate and find the depth of your inspection camera or small sonde within non-metallic pipe or plastic water pipes. Because of the nature and strength of the sonde's signal, it is necessary to know where the sonde is within a non metallic pipe sensor. Includes passive locating capability with a passive mode typically found in larger more cumbersome locators. Optional large or small 512 Hz sondes are available for use with this device to assist in locating. The device will also locate inspection cameras.

How to Search for a Sonde with the Schonstet XT512

1. Focus the search on a circle of several feet centered on the sonde.
2. You should distinguish whether you are positioned along the pipe axis (the direction of the sonde) or off to either side. Sonde mode does not allow directional arrows on locators; therefore, signal strength is the only indication.
3. When the receiver is placed perpendicular to the sensors, the signal strength will be "null" (near zero).
4. Increase signal strength by rotating the locator's axis and direction. Move the receiver in the direction that produces the best signal strength.
5. Signal strength increases as the receiver gets closer to the sonde, and reaches its maximum when it is directly over the sonde.
6. The sensors will be parallel to the axis of the sonde at this time.

How to Measure the Depth of a Sonde with the Schonstedt XT512

1. To measure depth, place the tip of the locator on the ground
2. Press the DEPTH button when the signal strength is at a maximum.
3. Orientation (axis) of the locator, as shown in Figure A in the manual, is crucial for depth accuracy.
4. To achieve the best depth measurement results, sensors in the locator must be parallel to the axis of the sonde.
